The story was interesting to witness giving a backstory to the world I discovered in Automata. While it didn't have the whole P* combat I hoped would carry forward when they remade it, there was still a serviceable action RPG combat system here. Always wanted to check out this game after discovering the Nier franchise via Automata several years back. I liked the whole multidimensional concept and the introduction of Rivet, though the weapons weren't entirely memorable (they're starting to feel like Megaman bosses.) and the premise of SSD speed allowing for crazy dimensional switching gameplay underdelivered. Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart - I've always loved the R&C series, though a lot of the more recent games felt like they were just going through the motions to me.Still not the biggest fan of the art style, but I think this long-awaited sequel definitely delivered and was worth the wait. Nice open-world action platformer with a ton of charm. Psychonauts 2 - I only just got around to playing Psychonauts in anticipation of the sequel looking like a good time.but problems in terms of pacing and level design really marred what was a great second entry in the FPS branch of this storied franchise.

Resident Evil Village - Lady D was awesome, the first person experience had gotten an upgrade and felt better than it did in RE7.Indies killed it in 2021! Borrows from the whole pokemon skill mechanic seen in titles like Aria of Sorrow or Folklore. A souls-like Metroidvania that came out of nowhere. to me in terms of design (fuck you, biome 5, you know what you did.), but overall, it was a hell of a ride that was worth the price of admission. The word of mouth and my general love of previous titles from the studio got me to bite when it hit $40 on sale and it was a great time. Not gonna lie, I saw that $70 first-party pricetag and balked. Returnal - Also out of left field was this ridiculously awesome rogue-lite shooter from Housemarque.I really love Team Ninja's take on the Souls action-RPG formula, so this was an absolute treat for me.

Absolutely gorgeous to look at, wonderful story, I cannot wait to see the next effort from this team. this had a ton of charm and the difficulty got up to be on the challenge level of a FROM title in recent years. Kena: Bridge of Spirits - Talk about coming out of nowhere.nice mix of new and classic elements and it just oozes style. Metroid Dread - A return to form for 2D Metroid my, how this franchise was missed.
